Let's start with the uncomfortable truth
We were doing fine.
Good jobs. Steady income. A roof over our heads and food on the table. By most measures, life was going pretty well for Mr and Mrs MoneyTree.
And yet, there was this quiet, nagging feeling that wouldn't go away. The kind that shows up at 10pm when the kids are finally asleep and you're sitting there thinking — is this it? Is this just what life is now? Work, spend, sleep (sometimes), repeat?
It wasn't that we were unhappy. It was that we didn’t know when that cycle would stop. Will we wake up one day and realise our kid’s childhood is over. We don’t want to have regrets about what we missed. We want to commit our precious hours to making memories, not dollars. That is when we started to wonder how we could do things differently.
Can we build multiple low touch income streams and reduce our hours worked?

What if time isn’t money?
We’ve all heard the saying, but who decided that was the rule? Here’s the truth about earning a corporate salary: every dollar comes with a slice of your life attached to it.
Stop working — the money stops. Take a week off — the work piles up. You or the kids get sick for a month — everything gets complicated fast. That’s the deal, and most of us sign up to it without ever reading the fine print.
What if we could build an income that keeps working even when we are not?
The moment that idea landed for us — like really landed — was the moment everything started to shift. Not because we had a plan. Not because we knew what to do. But because we'd finally asked the right question.
What if money could work a little harder than we do?

What we actually decided to do
We decided to build income streams that don't need us in the room for them to work. We are calling it our Money Tree.
Low-touch income. No-touch income. The kind that runs in the background while we're doing school pickups, cooking dinner, or just living and enjoying our lives – maybe even catching up on sleep.
Now — and we want to be clear about this — we are not claiming this is easy. We are not promising you'll make thousands a month by next Tuesday. Anyone who tells you that is selling something, and it's probably not worth buying.
What we are saying is that we think it's possible. It will take upfront effort. It will take patience. It will take a commitment to be willing to try things that might not work. But with persistence, anything is possible — and we're going to prove it, one experiment at a time.

Why document it publicly?
Because we wish someone had done this for us. We wanted a place where people could be honest about the hard parts, not just the highlights. A community that shows up for each other when things get messy, confusing, or discouraging.
When we first started exploring passive income and income diversification, we kept running into two types of content: the overly polished “here’s my six figure empire” stories, and the hyper theoretical listicles — 47 passive income ideas — that never explained what actually happened when someone tried them.
We wanted the third thing. The honest, real time, here’s what we actually did version. The one where the numbers are real, the lessons come from experience, and the journey feels human. A place where a community grows with you — where you can ask questions, share ideas, and feel understood by people on the same mission.
So that’s what this is.
The Money Tree Project is our documented journey — the wins, the lessons, the experiments, and the honest realities of what building multiple low-touch income streams actually looks like for a regular family.

Who is this for?
It’s for anyone who’s ever felt like their income has a ceiling they can’t break through.
It’s for parents who want more time for them and their kids along with less financial pressure. For people who are great at what they do but quietly wonder what life would look like if they stepped off the treadmill for a moment. For anyone craving more choice in how they spend their days.

You don’t need a finance degree. You don’t need a pile of capital. You just need curiosity, patience, and the willingness to learn alongside a couple figuring it out in real time.

We’re not ahead of you. We’re right here with you — building this as we go.

What's coming up
Over the next few weeks, here's what we'll be covering:

The mindset shift: Why trading time for money is the default — and how to start thinking differently.
Income explained simply: What passive, semi-passive, low-touch, and no-touch income actually mean — in plain English.
Our experiment framework: How we decide what to try, what to skip, and how we measure success.
Experiment #1 in full: What we tried, what it cost, how long it took, and what actually happened.
Regular updates: Transparent progress reports as we commence our mission to build our own money tree.
